A Reply to This Letter Could be Money in Your Pocket

Check your mailbox. If you are one of the 6,239 New York City residents to receive a letter from the Department of Finance about the 2009 Earned Income Tax Credit, reply immediately. You may be eligible to receive additional refunds of up to $5,028 from IRS.

The Department of Finance is alerting taxpayers who appear to qualify for but didn't claim the EITC on their 2009 federal returns. The letter includes instructions, all necessary forms, and information on how to get help. You must reply and provide all of the requested information to receive the EITC.

If IRS and the state verify you are eligible, they will send you a check. All you have to do is reply to the letter...it could make your life a little easier.
