Federal charges filed against Niceville man for multimillion dollar fraud and tax crime allegations

Pensacola, FL – Sydney Marc Wilson Jr., of Niceville, Florida, has been indicted in federal court on charges related to a multiyear scheme to defraud victims out of millions of dollars. John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida announced the charges.

Wilson’s next court appearance is set for Aug. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. before United States Magistrate Judge Hope Thai Cannon.

The Indictment charges Conspiracy to Commit Wire and Mail Fraud; Mail Fraud; Wire Fraud; Money Laundering; and Subscribing to Materially False Tax Returns.

If convicted, Finley faces up to twenty years’ imprisonment on the fraud charges, up to ten years’ imprisonment on the money laundering charges, and up to three years’ imprisonment on the tax charges.

The case is being jointly investigated by the Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David L. Goldberg.

An indictment is merely an allegation by a grand jury that a defendant has committed a violation of federal criminal law and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which it will be the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
